Veterans Affairs SPS Addition, VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System
Fort Wayne, Indiana
American Structurepoint designed a $4.8 million, 13,500-sft basement level addition of Building 1 to accommodate a new SPS department and supporting requirements. The SPS equipment includes steam sterilizers, instrument/ultrasonic washers, endoscopy processors, dryer, high-pressure boilers, cart washer, and work stations. The foundation/structural design is designed to support five future floor additions. Our architects and engineers are responsible for producing a complete set of drawings, design narrative/analysis, calculations, sample boards, and specifications in accordance with professional standard practices and VA criteria.
Using AutoCAD 2010, submitted drawings include Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents. Structural engineers are developing schematic foundation and framing plans, as well as Progressive Collapse and antiterrorism force protection design criteria, and structural framing systems required to meet code provisions. We are preparing a code review of the new and renovated spaces to ensure compliance with applicable codes and VA standards. Many utilities are located within the addition footprint and are relocated due to this project. Additionally, site amenities such as walks and parking lots are being modified to accommodate the addition.
