American Structurepoint Architects Create “Sustainable Design” For New Meyer Najem Headquarters
Corporate, Architecture + InteriorsMay 15, 2014One of the Midwest’s leading construction firms is also leading the charge when it comes to sustainable design. The corporation hired American Structurepoint to design the new facility in downtown Fishers with the intent that the new expansion would be complete with sustainable and locally manufactured materials.
“It’s essential that a company’s headquarters reflect that company’s ideas, values, and culture,” said Brandon Farley, American Structurepoint architect. “Before drawing our first line, we began by gathering Meyer Najem together in a day- long visioning session in order to understand their goals and priorities.”
Meyer Najem takes pride in differentiating themselves from others in the market, so they understood the need to approach their new headquarters in a unique manner with a design firm that has similar values and vision.
From those meetings, American Structurepoint’s architects were able to design a concept that helps tell the story of Meyer Najem. Daylighting, indoor/outdoor spaces, collaboration areas, and sustainability became the focus for their new facility. From the outside, many of the building details were left exposed, highlighting cable-suspended shading devices, steel channel stairs, and exposed steel columns. They are using recycled materials, as well as locally manufactured and harvested materials. Low VOC adhesives, sealants, paints and carpets will be used inside the new facility.
Employees will benefit from the corporation’s commitment to overall health, as an indoor bike storage facility will be added to promote alternative transportation. Indoor showers will be available to promote physical activity during the lunch hour.
“Meyer Najem takes pride in differentiating themselves from others in the market, so they understood the need to approach their new headquarters in a unique manner with a design firm that has similar values and vision,” said Rob Bray, project manager at American Structurepoint. “With Meyer Najem as a partner, we have created a strong bond in the market with the expectation of high quality and premier design and should only continue to become more recognized in the Midwest and US.”
