Riverwalk Improvements
Lawrenceburg, Indiana
American Structurepoint led the City of Lawrenceburg through a collaborative process to create a Lawrenceburg Riverfront Master Plan. The plan focused on the riverfront area between Tanners Creek on the west to the Hollywood Casino to the east. The master plan provides recommendations and implementation strategies to guide future investment along the riverfront and within the surrounding neighborhoods.
We find power in partnerships, and our partnership with the City of Lawrenceburg is an excellent example. We have worked with the city for more than 20 years, providing various services to analyze and deliver solutions to the downtown area. In 2017, our landscape architects began the Lawrenceburg Riverfront Master Plan, recommending future projects to improve the downtown area. Our team, along with City leadership, came up with the idea to use barges in the river as a home for restaurants. The idea would invite residents and visitors to the riverfront, by improving the links between the riverfront and downtown. Later, our team designed the waterfront park, creating new pathways, seating areas, and ADA-compliant amenities. Simultaneously, the levee’s integrity was preserved, seamlessly blending flood protection with the park’s aesthetics. The City’s investment in our partnership and the improvement of its downtown has led to the development of a strong tourism industry and vibrant business community.
