As part of the Whiting Lakefront Park redevelopment project in the City of Whiting, Ind., the existing Whiting High School baseball field has been relocated and redesigned into a unique 1,000 seat, state-of-the-art stadium. The new venue includes recessed dugouts, fully accessible grandstands, raised lawn seating, and a press box and concession structure. The public is invited to celebrate the grand opening of Oil City Stadium at Standard Diamonds Park, presented by the City of Whiting, on Friday, April 22. Tours of the new park, light refreshments, and giveaways will begin at 10:00 a.m. Mayor Joe Stahura will throw out the honorary first pitch at the inaugural Calumet College and Whiting High School games beginning at
4 p.m.

Designed by American Structurepoint, Inc. and Context, LLC, and built by Powers & Sons Construction Company, Inc., Oil City Stadium at Standard Diamonds Park is located along Whiting’s primary commercial corridor, connecting an existing trail network, Lakefront Park and downtown businesses. Oil City Stadium will become the home field for both the Whiting High School and Calumet College of St. Joseph's men's baseball teams. Multiple fields at the nearby 117th Street Sports Complex, which was also designed by American Structurepoint and Context, will host Whiting Little League baseball and the Calumet College’s women's softball team.
