7th Street Bike Lane Improvements

Our landscape architecture team understands thoughtful consideration and planning comes into play for the design of bike lanes. Bike lanes are meant to be protected, enhance connectivity and safety, and improve efficiency for users. They also need to be designed to fit the place and project landscaping. Our team worked alongside American Structurepoint’s road team and the client to make decisions on the types of trees and plants that would adapt to the urban environment, as well as how to preserve the existing mature trees.

The final design incorporated green infrastructure such as rain gardens (bioinfiltration) with intentional plantings that are made to survive the dynamic environment. Also unique to this project, the bike lane and surrounding space changes block by block to respond to changing environments adjacent to the street.
