Tempur Sealy Manufacturing Plant

American Structurepoint provided architectural, civil, and structural engineering services for this approximate 750,000-sft structural steel, light-industrial mattress manufacturing facility. Thisdesign-build project had an aggressive schedule to meet the client’s needs. Our structural team designed the structural steel frame, foundations, slab-on-grade, and lateral resisting system for the one-story building with limited mezzanine areas. The superstructure was primarily comprised of load-bearing precast perimeter walls and a structural steel frame with a joist and joist-girder roof. Load allowance was included in the roof design for the owner to suspend their own equipment. Design of the project involved the coordination of heavy roof-supported piping and conveyor loads and also included support for both a gantry crane and a beam crane.
