Union Township Waterline Installation Program
Union Township, Ohio
The US 40 and SR 37 corridors in Union Township are well-positioned to capture growth. However, for these corridors to reach their potential, water service must be extended into these areas. There are also several existing businesses, including the National Trail Raceway, that are not connected into any system and are currently experiencing capacity challenges and fire suppression risks. To address these needs, the Southwest Licking Community Water and Sewer District (SWLCWSD) selected American Structurepoint to extend service into the Luray service area. The project involves installing nearly 30,000 lft of 8-, 12-, and 16-inch water mains. Our work began with surveying for water main alignment and necessary easement.
GPS and aerial mapping was supplemented with field topography to refine the alignments of the water lines. Our team analyzed location options on both sides of US 40 to determine a route that would create the least impact for residents and maintenance of traffic purposes. Due to the congestion around the IR 70 and SR 37 interchange, American Structurepoint provided several waterline alignment options for SWLCWSD and ODOT to review. Detailed design plans for the preferred route were submitted to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. We also developed specifications and bid documents, developed a detailed construction cost estimate, and created a proposed project implementation schedule including permitting, construction, and other related activities.
