US 50 Floodgate Replacement

Lawrenceburg, Indiana

INDOT's proposed modification to US 50 at Tanners Creek in Lawrenceburg required the relocation of the floodgate that protects the City of Lawrenceburg from the 500-year flood event. American Structurepoint designed an 84-foot by 12-foot by 5-foot rolling steel floodgate and new concrete flood wall/wing walls to replace the existing floodgate on US 50. A thorough understanding of US Army Corp of Engineer's (USACE) design standards was required, and the design was reviewed and approved by the USACE. American Structurepoint provided full-time construction inspection and management during construction, including managing a material subconsultant, documenting progress, reviewing pay requests, and coordination with INDOT and the City regarding closures required on US 50 for the work.
